Of The Mercury Comet Model Line. Back In 1964.
For 1965, the Comet Cyclone was powered
By The 289-cu.in. V-8 With 225hp,
The Same Engine That Was Put Into Mustang Model.
A Strong Power Plant, With Plenty Of Muscle,
Offers Of An Optional Engine For This Muscle Car.
Was The Infamous Hi-Po 289, A True Muscle Engine
Rated At 271hp For The Standard Street Version.
This Engine Put Out 312-lbs.ft. Of Torque At 3,400 rpm.
A Fiberglass Hood Was Available With A Scoop.
Recessed Into The Hood, About A Foot Back
From The Leading Edge. Between 200 And 300,
Of These Special Hoods, Were Ordered New In 1965.
"It Was A Prototype Hood That Became
A Regular Production item on the 1966 Comet GT."
